4 Easy Steps In Natural Skin Regime

Love Your Skin Again

As we love summer- summer often does NOT love our skin. Fresh air and fresh fruits are certainly good for us but the healthiest sun-kissed look really comes from the bottle not the beach.

Acne prone skin is not an exception and requires a special attention by the end of the summer and in the Fall since summer sun, salty water and outdoor fun may actually require you to apply extra moisture to your skin WITHOUT clogging your pores and exasperating your acne symptoms.

Try this simple 4 Steps Skin Rejuvenation Regimen and get your Fall Acne Skin in shape.

Step 1 - Steaming

Steaming is essential for blemished skin to increase circulation, improve the flow of oils and promote the elimination of toxins. Moisture hydrates the skin and encourages cellular rejuvenation. Be careful not to burn the skin and choose from any of the following herbs to prepare a decongestant steam:

  • Echinacea (cleans and detoxifies)
  • Lavender (calms and moisturizes)
  • Elderflower (moisturizes)
  • Chamomile ( natural antiseptic, calms and soothes)
  • Place a handful of fresh or 2 tablespoons of dried herbs in a bowl
  • Pour over the herbs 1 liter (2 Quarts) of boiling pure spring water.
  • Cover your head with a towel and steam for 5-10 minutes.
  • Do not put your face too close to the hot surface and remove the towel immediately if you feel any burning sensation.

When finished - drink at least one full glass of water (8oz) to replace lost fluids.

Avoid steaming if you suffer with Rosacea or if your skin is aggravated by hot humid climates.

For total body skin care prepare a warm bath using the herbal extract listed above. Add 5-6 generous handfuls of herbs to a bath tub of water. Try to immerse your back and chest in the water for 10-15 minutes.

Use once a week.

Step 2 - Herbal Compress

For blemished skin use cool to tepid compresses to calm inflammation and to soothe your skin. Mix together any two or more dried or fresh herbs:

  • Sage or
  • Chamomile or
  • Marigold, or
  • Rosemary
  • Make a strong tea using 2 tablespoons of dried herb or two handfuls of fresh herbs and cover with a pint of hot water.
  • Allow the tea to infuse for 30 minutes then strain.
  • Saturate a folded cloth with the tea, ring out the excess tea, then place over the blemished skin for 2 minutes.
  • Repeat several times. The infusion will be warm temperature or lightly warm- do not heat it.
  • Use every day. When the skin improves use every other day and for the up-keep once or twice a week.

Step 3 - Scented Milk Cleanser

Blemished skin should be cleansed daily with gentle ingredients that do not irritate. A good cleansing routine is essential to clear away excess oil and impurities.

  • 1 tablespoon of dried herbs
  • 280ml fresh organic 2% or 4% milk
  • For the dried herbs use any combination of Marshmallow root, Yarrow, Mint and Lime flowers.
  • Place the herbs and milk in a saucepan and allow steeping for one hour, next warm gently for 10 minutes.
  • Leave to cool and then strain. Add a drop of rose oil. Keep in refrigerator and the cleanser will last for 4 days.
  • Use daily.
