There are some myths and stories circulation about skincare that need to be highlighted. For example – NO- you should not put a toothpaste on your pimples!
On the other hand there are some practices that are not so easy to accept or reject. They need- clarification
Here is of them the 4-2-4 rule.
The 4-2-4 rule in skincare is a cleansing method where you massage your face with oil for 4 minutes, followed by a water-based cleanser for 2 minutes, and then rinse for 4 minutes. It's a variation of the double cleansing technique, with specific timed steps.
Here is how it works::
You use an oil-based cleanser or organic coconut or almond oil to massage your face and remove makeup, dirt, and excess sebum.
Apply a water-based cleanser (like a foam or cream cleanser) and massage for 2 minutes to further cleanse the skin.
Rinse your face with warm water for the first 2 minutes, followed by cold water for the next 2 minutes.
Deep Cleansing.
This method helps remove impurities and make-up more effectively than a single cleanse.
Improves Skin Texture.
The massage and cleansing can help to exfoliate and refine the skin's texture.
It is gentle on your skin
The oil cleansing and gentle massage are less likely to strip the skin's natural oils compared to harsher cleansing methods.
Potential Benefits for Acne Prone Skin
Potential Drawbacks:
The routine takes about 10 minutes, which may not be practical for everyone.
If not done properly, excessive cleansing can disrupt the skin's natural barrier, leading to dryness and irritation.
The oil massage may not be ideal for acne-prone skin until a proper oil and very focused rinsing is involved.
